I present to you Carleton's very own, Tom Ngo.

I met him a few years back while enrolled in Architecture. At the time, he was in his last year. Making quite an impression in our year, his character is as whimsical as his drawings.

His work will be exhibited at LE Gallery located on 1183 Dundas St. West. Opening reception will be held on Friday, July 6 from 6 - 9 pm. If you cannot make it, fear not, his solo exhibition will be available for public viewing from July 6th to the 29th.

In this specific exhibit, Tom looks at the theme of redundancy as a means of "fracturing the familiar". It expands on his masters' thesis of architecture absurdity, which can be found here.

Trunk Swap Preview

Don't forget about the Trunk Swap happening this Friday in 1st/2nd year studio. Some of the things CIDSA will be selling/auctioning off include: typewriters, belts, shawls, CIDSA swag, springrolls and soup! Trunk Swap

Mark your calendars, CIDSA`s first Trunk Swap is fast approaching! Come out to buy/sell/trade your old things. You can look forward to a silent auction, food(!), raffles and local designer goods. Items in the auction should make their way into the display case beside 4th year studio sometime soon.

Recap: Internship Talk

On September 30th, from 3-5pm, we hosted our first internship talk. We had a couple speakers fresh from their internships talk to us about their experiences with working in the real world. Everything you could possibly know was covered, topics ranged from job-searches, to co-op, to international placements and exciting plans for the future.

CIDSA would like to thank our speakers: Anne, Liz, Kim, Charlotte, Tony, Gabe, and Jason for taking the time to talk to us!

The talks were a great success and we'd love to host another session! If you missed out, I'm sure that our speakers wouldn't mind chatting about their internships.

CIDSA Museum Outing Recap

Here are some pictures from last week's trip to the Canadian Museum of Civilization. We were lucky enough to receive a guided tour from the curator of the Japan: Tradition. Innovation. exhibition, as well as sit in on a lecture from retired Japanese astronaut, Mamoru Mohri. Look forward to more museum/gallery outings in the near future!

Resin Casting Workshop

CIDSA is proud to present its second Resin Casting Workshop! Held by SID alumnus Teddy Luong, the workshop will take place over two days, Oct 1st + 2nd. Spots are limited, so make sure you sign up on the sheets outside of the printer room ASAP!
